Manga are the still pictures we think of as
comics. These are usually printed in magazines or in
bound collections in Japan. Here the serials printed
in Japan are usually what we see as monthly or weekly
manga comics and the books as the Graphic novels.

Anime is moving picture episodes or movies,
similar to what we think of as cartoons. These are usually
in the form of television series, movies or OAVs/OVAs
(original animation videos). Often anime is based on
a popular manga series.
