Some general advice for newbies ... especially Assassin newbies.

Read the help files before you ask questions of people. Try typing help <word> where word is what you want to know about... if nothing turns up try some similar words or type help by itself to get a list of help topics

Read the FAQ and get the maps. This will avoid a lot of "where is the mended drum" type questions. These are available on the MUD homepage.

Use the consider <person> command. This means that you won't suicidally attack someone you're not ready to kill. If you need to kill things start on cockroaches ... and get a cheap weapon like a foil.

You will probably need money... there are a few ways you can do this. Quests will give you money (if you can find them), people might be kind and give you money. Other than that you'll need to get it other ways. If you're good enough you can kill NPCs and sell their things. Otherwise you can search on the street and sell what you find.

When dealing with NPCs it pays to be polite. Many times this means saying please, thank you and may I.

The newbie channel is not a chat channel ... if you just want people to talk to get a talker stick. You can exchange your free voucher for one at the joke shop on Filagree St ... if you lose it they only cost 50c

Don't fight in the same room as City Watchmen as they will arrest you.

Assassin only advice

Do not ask how to join the guild. Have a look around... if you can't work it out you probably shouldn't join.

Do not try the Run until you are at least level 60. Do not ask people how to do the Run. You will need to find the library and read the Cordat before you do the Run.
