Jolt: the favourite of many a caffeine addict. Jolt has 100mg per 12 fl oz which makes it mucho spunky and "Twice the Caffeine" of THAT cola company's product, a fact that they dwell on quite a bit. Jolt also contains a lot more sugar than many other colas so is rather syrupy and sweet, tasting rather like Tab Cola used to, but harsh on the waistline.

Diet Jolt is available but tastes like.... dirt in water... not worth even contemplating.

"American Flavours" Jolt Caffeinated soft drinks are now also available with flavours like Root Beer and Creaming Soda, very worthy.

Dr Pepper: is relatively new to Australia (some 5 years?), being that Schweppes recently bought the rights to bottle and sell the stuff. However in America it's been selling for years. This drink is very syrupy and sweet, with the taste of Maraschino Cherry so common in American foods; it's similar to the Cherry Coke you seem to be able to buy everywhere but Australia, but lacks the bitter bite that the over carbonation of Coca Cola provides. Most Australians unfortunately tend to associate this taste with the flavouring in many children's cough/cold medicines and so it's introduction to Australian culture has been a slow, painful and uneconomic one for Schweppes. You can no longer buy Diet Dr Pepper in Australia, queries to Cadbury Schweppes indicate that they do not consider this a viable product in this market and have no affiliations with an import company to order through.

Pepsi: I cannot stand, go bother someone else. I will say this, it tastes less like a cola drink and more like a cola lolly; Pepsi max has brought sugar free colas to the male audience and the new Diet Pepsi (this is diet?) formula is a hundred fold improvement on the last... making it drinkable.

Pepsi still does not substitute for coke when mixing alcohol drinks though. Yerk.

Water Joe: not available outside the United States *sob* but what a concept: caffeinated water. That's right, pure water with a kick, how to make my evil uber espresso worse. Bwahahaha

Red Eye: This stuff is heaven and I think still only available in Australia. The Red Eye drink started with the original 'classic' drink and now has an energy drink to suit every type of exertion. There are seperate drinks for mental exhaustion, relaxation, post exercise ... and they all taste *amazing*. Highly highly recommended! Although I warn you: it's very easy to get foreign visitors hooked on it quickly ... the parting is terrible ;P They have this nifty webpage which details all of their products, and an ordering facility… hmmm.

Red Bull: You probably know this one. Syrupy sweet and full of taurine, the recommended daily dose is only 2 drinks and can cause problems if you drink too much particularly while dancing heavily or on stimulants as its major audience often are. I quite like the diet version, and you can find it in many bars as a vodka mixer that goes quite well but beware the price tag.

V is an alternative NZ energy drink marketed in Australia to jump on the sudden popularity of Red Bull and to be honest I much prefer it. The after taste is nowhere near as bad and there's a lot of guarana rather than taurine making it much better for you. The diet version is nice, and there's now a black 'smooth' variety. Oh and their commercials are fantastic and very much worth watching.
