Geisha are a fascination of mine. That is not to say I am an expert by any means. The closed nature of the Geisha world means that the accurate literature on the topic is sparce and difficult to find. Consequently the majority of information held here is taken from my very meagre collection of books on Geisha - both historical and contemporary. I do expect that there are mistakes and biases throughout this page however if you have accurate information to correct any mistakes found herein please direct me to the correct information (particularly if you have a new source that I do not!).

This page was constructed mainly because the internet resources on Geisha are very limited and usually consist of girls that have read Memoirs of a Geisha one too many times and take it as gospel, if not construct their own ridiculous fantasies based on the novel.

• A list of the Kamon (Japanese family crests) used by contemporary Okiya
